Transit Administrative Student Assistant
Work Days/Times
Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (flexible schedule; any 2 to 4 hour block will be considered during Fall/Spring semesters)
Major/Essential Duties of Job
Assisting Transportation Services Transit Program Coordinator I with specific tasks and projects daily. Main responsibilities will include: Screening student driver applicants for eligibility, scheduling interviews and other appointments, monitoring and assisting with applicant's progress from interview to HR payroll processing, contacting references, preparing, scanning, and filing documents, assisting with regular records retention, answering phones when needed, miscellaneous projects and other duties as assigned. Starting salary will be $11 an hour. $18 an hour will be paid for working any special events. $20 an hour will be paid on Football game events only. Flexible schedule discussed during interview. A minimum of 20 hours a week preferred. May be eligible for priority registration as a student employee (Texas A&M students only). Preference will be given to students participating in the First-Gen High Impact Experience program offered through the Routh First-Generation Center. Qualifications
• Adaptable, personable student with excellent verbal, and written skills as well as a high level of professionalism. • Must have strong computer skills. • Must have a valid Texas driver's license. • Must be enrolled as a student for a minimum of 9 hours per semester (excluding Summer or Winter Sessions) at TAMU, Blinn, Sam Houston, Vista College, etc. • Must work a minimum of 12 hours per week during the Fall and Spring Semesters. Graduation dates will be reviewed for best availability. • All student employees are required to work a minimum of 10 Special Event Credits (work 6 in the Fall and work 4 in the spring).
Preferred Qualifications
Previous clerical experience and/or customer service experience preferred. Ability to work in 2-4 hour blocks of time for 20 hours a week. Work availability through breaks is preferred but there is no minimum requirement of hours to meet.
Other Instructions
Business casual attire required. This is a position within Transit but is an extension of our Transportation Services Human Resources department, so confidentiality and discretion is required. Please attach your resume and a copy of your Spring 2025 schedule.
Salary
$11.00/hr (eligible for student employee pay plan)
